How to clean the inside of copper cookware?
I know you can use a variety of things to polish the OUTside from lemons and salt to Brasso, but my concern is cleaning the INside of these pots and pans. Its not copper, its something silver colored, and its incredibly tarnished black from non use for X amount of years Its almost like its stained black or something.any ideas?
What is a GOOD set of cookware for around $100 dollars?!?
I love cooking, do it quite a lot so much so I even work in a cooking supply store yeah, my savings account is non existent haha . Anyway, I have a good dutch oven, but aside that, I don't really have any of MY OWN cookware. This will be my second year in college and I will be there full time no summer break , and could really use the cookware. So, my parents are getting me a set of cookware to go with, but not expensive. Now I can't tell you how much I would love a set of Demeyere, but lets face it, how long could even THAT hold up in college? Thus I don't want to go behind my parents back and splerg on a better set because they have a good point. Right now we have 2 or 3 pieces of All Clad and 3 nice pieces of Analon cookware which is surprisingly nice . I mainly need just a 10 to 12 inch fry pan, a saute pan, 3qt or larger pot for pasta and such, and that should be ok. WHAT IS A GOOD LINE THOUGH ? I like analon? But my store doesn't carry it anymore so it's a little too much for all the stuff I need. Calphalon, Emeril ware, etc. I'm looking in Walmart Target type places, so please let me know what you think? Preferably longish lasting, and not nonstick where the nonstick really doesn't stick if that makes sense? . THANK YOU SO MUCH And I will look at reviews as well so I'm not relying all on you guys .
If my parents cook with Teflon (nonstick cookware) around my bird, will it affect him if they turn the fan on?
So of course most of you know that Teflon nonstick cookware is poisonous to birds and can kill them instantly if it is overheated. Well I recently got a lovebird, and I just found out that my parents use Teflon when cooking. I told them that it was life threatening for my bird but they didn't believe me even after I told them there were lots of articles about it. I wanted to move him to my room but they wouldn't let me. Right now he's by the kitchen in the area where we eat. He's like 25 feet away from the stove I'm just REALLY scared that one day my mom might overheat the stove and my bird will die. I really don't want him to die, and I" ll do anything to keep him safe. My parents don't seem to care, they just want to put him there in the kitchen so everybody can see him. There's nowhere else to put him so moving him isn't an option. Okay so my question is if my parents turn the stovetop fan on when they're cooking, will it blow away all the fumes from the Teflon and will it therefore not harm my bird? Because that's the only thing that I can think of that might keep him safe...
Is there any way to remove teflon coating from cast aluminum cookware?
Lye is the only solution I can find online that removes teflon from cookware. However, lye is reactive to aluminum, and will damage and corrode the metal, if it doesn't just eat it away completely. So does anyone else have any solution that could help me remove the teflon safely without damaging the pan?
Anyone dealt with "Mainstays" cookware?
I purchased a cheap pot and pan set at Walmart for my college apartment this year, I just want to know if anyones used them and how the experience has gone.I'm not expecting good reviews.

How to cook on the stove with glass cookware?
In an effort to try to rid my kitchen and food of toxins, I decided to purchase some visions glass cookware but I'm not used to cooking on my stove top with glass. Obviously sauces and other water based foods are no problem to figure out but I have a skillet and tried to make hashbrowns on them this morning and just ended up with a burnt mess.I read that glass takes longer to heat up but retains heat longer so I assume that I just need to cook on lower temperatures but I can't really find a website with suggestions on how to cook with glassware probably because it is just so uncommon nowadays . Any tips would be greatly appreciated Thanks
BIG PROBLEM! MY PARENTS ARE USING NONSTICK COOKWARE AROUND MY BIRD!?
So I got a baby lovebird about 5 days ago, and he is the most adorable thing in the world Before I got him, I did a llot of research and I found out that nonstick cookware is extremely toxic to birds and can instantly kill them once they are overheated. Well I asked my parents if we had nonstick pans, and they said " No." So I thought it would be safe and we got the bird. Well TODAY, I asked again just to make sure, and they were like " Of course we have nonstick cookware All of our pans are nonstick " I was like, " What? But you told me we didnt' have any " They were like " Oh. Well we do" I tried telling them that it is extremely dangerous to birds and could kill my lovebird he's 25 feet away from the stove , but they wouldn't listen They were like don't worry, he won't die. I was like, YES HE WILL DIE IF YOU OVERHEAT THE PAN So they got all mad at me and said I shouldn't treat my bird like he's sooo important. That got me REALLY mad. Anyway, they said they weren't going to stop using nonstick cookware so too bad. They were like " If he dies, he dies. We aren't going to change anything." Oh my gosh that just made me even madder and now I don't know what to do I really don't want my bird to die and I've only had him for 5 DAYS What do I do????There isn't really anywhere else to put it, except my bedroom . But I don't think it would get enough social interaction there cuz school is starting soon and I won't be there very much
